The fees charged for surface water drainage vary significantly from company to company - and this, plus the length of time you have lived in your current property, will determine the amount of money (plus interest) that you can potentially claim. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have lived in their current homes for a minimum of 6 years and who are customers of United Utilities, Northumbrian Water or Severn Trent Water, as these water companies are known to have billed the highest surface water charges, in the region of £60-£75 per year.
United Utilities provides water, drainage and sewerage services to North West of England and has one of the highest annual water surface drainage charges of all 11 companies. If you are supplied by United Utilities and have lived in your current home for 6+ years, you are likely to be able to claim a higher than average amount if eligible.
Northumbrian Water operates in the North West of England and is among the "top 3" water companies in terms of charging the highest annual water surface drainage charges. If you are supplied by Northumbrian Water and have lived in your current home for 6+ years, you are likely to be able to claim a higher than average amount if eligible.
Severn Trent Water serves customers in the Midlands and the catchment areas around two of Britain's largest rivers, the Severn and the Trent. They also have one of the 3 highest annual surface water drainage charges. If you are supplied by Severn Trent and have lived in your current home for 6+ years, you are likely to be able to claim a higher than average amount if eligible.
Anglian Water covers the 2nd largest geographical area and supplies homes in the East of England. Their surface water drainage charges are fairly average and if you have lived in your current home for 6+ years, you are likely to be able to claim an average amount if eligible.
Southern Water covers the south of England from the coast of Kent to Bournemouth, Dorset largest geographical area and supplies homes in the East of England. Their surface water drainage charges are fairly average and if you have lived in your current home for 6+ years, you are likely to be able to claim an average amount if eligible.
Southern Water provides water, drainage and sewerage services to the South East of England. If you are supplied by Southern Water and have lived in your current home for 6+ years, you are likely to be able to claim a higher than average amount, if eligible.
